Leaking Head Gasket

Recently I installed new rings & did a valve job on my 1947 farmal A.
After running the tractor for a short period of time i noticed coolant leaking out around the head gasket.
I turned the engine off & retorqued the head bolts & started engine only to find the leaks still occouring.
I have since removed the head & inspected the gasket only to find it in good condition.The gasket was new when first installed after valve job.
My question is I want to know if there is a compound I could use with the gasket to make it more effective at making a seal.
P.S. What is the procedure for doing this?

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
