We have a NI mtd. picker that we use on our M-TA. I couldn't tell you the number of the NI, but it is a newer one with the big husking bed, and we also have a sheller for it too. We use it on about 20 acres of corn each year. We only pick ear corn with it since the sheller is dusty and it is easier to borrow the neighbor's UNI system. The picker works well on the M-TA, although our M-TA has powersteering, the T/A doesn't work on the low side, and we never had a speed problem. The only problem we have is getting enough hydraulic pressure to pick the unit up when the oil gets warm. We have stopped the problem by putting cylinder blocks on the cylinders so you don't have to wait as long for the unit to lift. We however have ran the picker on our 560 the past 2 years, that is a dream to run, but I prefer the M-TA for no apparent reason. I would put it on your SM, that way you have the 400 for other uses that may require the T/A and fast hitch, Like chopping stalks and such. Just a thought
