Terry you are correct in a method of repair. Tap a new hole for the valve stem and weld up the bad area of your rim. Some shops do a real good job so that you can't notice. You can check whats in your wheels for weight with a taste test...calcium...just a tad on your finger and if it has a salt base its likely calcium. Get it pumped out..it will kill grass and ruin the soil where it is spilled and it is not a good ecological. There are other more environmentally friendly liquids, but best is to go to a set of wheel weights. Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
