Not quite sure if what you are caling hydrostat power steering is the same power steering system found in most of these tractors 544-656-666-686, or somthing different, but that noise could be caused by air in the system, or mabey a plugged hydraulic filter. Change the filter, and work the remote hydraulic valve levers back and forth to get air out of the hyd. system.
