I just got a 460 and for the last 6 months I know it didn't have much more than a few gallons of fuel in the tank. When I filled it up I think the gas works some of the surface rust free. I drove it for 2 hours and the tractor kept sputtering like it was running out of fuel. It would die. Five minutes later I would start it up and drive another 100 yards and it would sputter and die. I looked at the glass filter and it had a small amount of rust in it. I cleaned it out and it ran perfect (til I sprang a leak in the top of my radiator) I don't know how much is too much, if you have rust in it, then clean it out. It only takes a couple of minutes. It might spare you from doing it out in the field. What I am wondering is how much is in my in-line filter screen that goes to the carb. I have taken it off yet.
