The A is a substanially heavier tractor than a Cub. The engine is nearly twice the size. The older cubs had 9 or 10 PTO HP. The A has 18 or so. The A has a 4 speed transmission where the cub has 3 speeds. The 4th on the A is a road gear at around 10-11 MPH. You can convert the A to a 3 point. However if you are going to do that, you should get a Super A so that you will have a hydraulic lift. The A had no hydraulic system. That is the main difference between the A and the Super A. If you are looking at a Super A to buy, make sure you get one that has the rear rockshaft on it, as you need that to put a 3 point on hitch on it. You can buy a new factory built hitch for a Super A from Work Saver. The price is in the $300 range.
