Rob: I'll take a stab at some of your questions. The value varies a lot due to your location and condition. Most would be in the $1000 to $2200 range. Your best bet would be to spend a few hours looking at many of the posts here and down on the puller forum. Check the archives for M related posts too. Within a week you can get a lot better feel for what is involved and better able to make a good decision you can live with rather than my few comments. This website is quite good. The Farmall M is a good solid design. You could enjoy working and using it. Open the many items listed on the left side of this screen. Parts are listed near the top. Good luck. G.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
