First try adjusting it again, this time to the published spec's. A good guage you can make to actually see the float level is a short piece of transparent tubing to a spike fitting. Screw this into the drain plug hole. To the other end of the tubing, attach some method to hang that end of the tubing somewhere nearby, and higher than the carb. The fuel will stop in the tubing at the same level as in the carb bowl. You can compare with the spec's. This little devise will help you avoid guessing at which way to adjust the float! Good luck!
