I had the same problem with my Super C several years ago. Someone else had installed new sleeves just before I bought the tractor. I took the head off because one of the head bolts was broken. My sleeves were like yours and stuck up about .008 - .010 and when I started the tractor it leaked out the valve pushrod side of the head. The manual says that the sleeves should not stick above the block more than .003 - .007" and I think .007 is excessive. I ended up having about .005" machined off the top of each sleeve. I no longer had any leaks after that. Are you sure you have the groove clean in the block. I scraped and sanded and nothing helped, so that is when I proceeded to the machining route. You can use one of various sealants on the head gasket for good measure. Roger
