I drained the transmission oil on my A this weekend and found a piece of gear and a lot of small metal filings. I took the shifter cover plate and and PTO off and took a good look inside. The gear piece was from the oiler gear which at this point doesn't have any teeth left on it. First, second and fourth gears look good but third gear has a bevel on the leading edge where the gears come together while shifting. The bevel is about one third the thickness of the gear at the top of the teeth. My question is how important is the oiler gear? Should I replace the third gear or does it still have a lot of life left in it? The seals on the clutch shaft and the wheel shafts are leaking so I plan on replacing those. Should I keep going and fix the oiler gear and third gear? I plan on using the tractor for lawn mowing and light work on my hobby farm.
