Broken gear teeth

I have a Farmall 300 with broken teeth on the constant mesh and fourth gear. I discovered this upon removal of the clutch housing to repair the torque amplifier. Is access to these gears obtained by removal of the foot plate under the battery box/seat? Are there any special tricks or tools required? Any help greatly appreciated.
