Dave the transmission input shaft has a woodruff key in it and should have a threaded hole in the end for a bolt and washer to keep the coupling from comeing off of the input shaft. You may want to check and see that you didnt knock the woodruff key out if you look under the torque tube near the back you should see a hole where the clutch linkage enters the torque tube. shine a light up into this hole and you should be able to see the coupling just back of the hole you may want to pull the shaft back out a little to see if the key is still there if its not there your coupling will just spin on the input shaft.you should also get a bolt into the end of the input shaft to hold the coupling in place. this could save you some time and effort in the future
