M Transmission Shifting

I am restoring a Farmall MD and am working on the transmission right now (the transmission is the same as an ordinary M). When I got the tractor it wouldn't stay in 5th gear. I straightened the shifter rails and installed now detent springs, but it is still sloppy in 4th and 5th. It looks like the holes where the detent balls and springs sit in are worn. The holes are cast into the main transmission cover, so I don't see any way to fix them other than some way of boring out the holes and pressing in a new insert. Does anyone know how to fix this?
