The T/A is disengaged (normal operation) when the operating lever is forward. Some points to remember:Always engage/disengage the TA smartly (do not ease the lever forward or back as this causes excess wear). Never engage the TA going downhill or let the tractor free wheel with TA engaged as this is very stressful to the gearing. Most believe the tractor should be operated in the correct gear for the prevailing conditions and the TA used only to boost for temporary changes like a hard spot plowing or large bunch in a windrow when baling. As an example plowing all day in 2nd gear is smarter than plowing in 3rd with TA. FARMALL/400 emblems: check classifieds. Buy an operators manual - available from Case-IH. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Red Power.
