No correct position, just make sure you do not cost down hill with TA lever back. you can run in TA or direct drive or (lever forward) or can shift up or down as need if I were bush hoging I would pick the gear I could use with TA forward because most likely could have places where you could cost even a little so you would have to cost. TA is more for work the needs power to the wheels more than PTO.
