Greg, This sounds like your first overhaul, so you will get a lot of good advice from The Red and others that frequent this site. Here's mine. First you need to tear down the engine and then the crank needs to be measured (all the journals, mains and rods) to see if it's out of round or not. If you get lucky it'll be ok, if not, the crank will have to be "turned" in a lathe to get the journals back to round again. The machine shop will tell you how much material needs to be removed from each journal type to accomplish this. This is usually expressed as 10 X 10 or 5 X 10, etc. (10 X 10 meaning the main bearing and connecting rod bearing journals of the crankshaft were reduced in diameter by .010"). Then you can order the correct bearing sets to install in your engine. While you're overhauling the engine I would recommend that you replace or rebuild the oil pump and possibly the timing gears (if they are worn). The timing gears on tractors with distributor drive hydraulic pumps are especially succeptible to wear of the gear train. If your H doesen't have such a pump, check the gears carefully for wear before reusing them. Good luck and keep us posted, Phil
