Hayne ; What has worked best for me is to weld a nut that is the next size bigger than the broken bolt. A wire feed welder works best for this. Clean the broken stud with a wire wheel and then use a pliers to hold the nut over the stud and weld the nut to the stud through the threads until the weld is even with the top of the nut. If the plate is not off the engine do so as it will help. Let the nut cool then try to rock the nut back and forth gently . Allowing the nut to soak with penetrating oil also helps.As for easy outs I have had nothing but agravation. I hope this helps.
