The Ford Select-o-speed is a notoriously finicky transmission. In addition, transmissions that are not kept adjusted wear quickly and eventually will need a re-build. There are any number of things wrong. Start by getting the correct manuals from Ford...you are dead in the water until you do. If you need parts for it, your Ford Dealer will love you because he will make a killing on the prices. While you are waiting for your books, here is a website that gives some good info on the SOS transmittions. I have personally avoided the SOS like the plague due to the types of problems you are having. Sorry to rain on your new tractor parade. But, once you get it right and keep it adjusted they actually work pretty well. Best of luck...BB
