I have a I-544 that has been giving me lots of problems lately. It started with the fuel-shutoff seleniod. I replaced that, then it would run but would miss considerably and puff black smoke. So I replaced plugs, distributor cap, points, condensor, and put a new sediment bowl on. This did nothing for it. In the process of all this though, I did discover that if I turned the gas off at the sediment bowl, just before the carb bowl would run out of fuel, it would run great for about 3 or 4 seconds before totally running out of gas. So this told me I had a fuel/air problem somehow and not spark. So, I got a carb rebuild kit and overhauled the carb, even put a new venturri in. Old venturri looked bad. Put it back together and tried it. Same !@&@#$% thing! I discovered that if i put the venturri in upside down it will run smooth but the choke has to be out and when under a load you can't get it out far enough to keep it going. But with the venturri in the right way, it just misses all the time. I am almost convinced the carb is ok, i've been all through it now! The pump is oviously pumping fuel. I am stumped now. Especially since turning the gas off makes it run normal when it's just about to run out of fuel. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
