It's a bit more detailed than that. You also need... a 12 volt generator... It is doubtful that a 6 volt generator would have enough ummmf to produce the 14 volts you would need for a 12 volt system. Also, you need to reverse the coil leads... add a resistor (if you don't switch to a 12 volt coil) .. repolarize the generator.... reverse the ammeter leads, if you want it to read correctly.... on and on. Just read the articles.. and plan on switching to an alternator. Besides, the alternator has it's own regualtor - you don't even need to mess with another regulator. An old Delco 10SI can be had at a junkyard for.. maybe $10 if you pull it yourself.
