I have noticed that motors tend to run hotter at low speed than at high speed, when they are not under load. I always assumed this was because of the water pump not turning as fast, and therefor not pumping water as fast as at high speed. And so that would give you more expansion at low speed. But this is by no means a scientific fact, it is just my general observation. So if i'm wrong, please feel free to correct me somebody.
