I bought a 40 H farmall that was on steel. It had skeleton rears and front steel as well. Also had an extra set of front wheels that were cut down and rims welded on. The tractor was froze up tight but fairly complete. I paid around $750 for it but I think that was to much. I was going to fix the old thing up but I come acrossed a better deal afterwords. I bought another old 42 H that had really bad rubber on it for $175 and it purred like a kitten. I switched wheel's over and used the old 40 for a parts tractor. I think I came out alright on the deal in the end becuase after switching parts over to a couple other old H's that old 40 is picked pretty clean. I was told the front steel wheel's for my H are worth about 2 to $300 for the pair. My skeleton rears I would guess would be worth around $300 for the pair. It kind of depends how much the steel lugs are wore off. I was lucky enough to find some new lugs at a swap meet for 2 bucks a peice but they come two lugs together. I got enough to go around one wheel but that was about how many were badly worn. Steel wheel's are fairly rare where I am at, but the extreme value that you would think would be there isn't. It seems to me that most people would alot rather have rubber than steel. Remember you got to keep those steel lugs off of all bridges and pavement and they are pretty rough riding on compacted dirt roads even. They aren't to bad in the field where they can sink in a little. The ride out in relatively soft ground isn't much different than rubber. But you still got to remember about the lugs when it comes to parades and ext. And some of the local tractor pulls eliminated the steel wheel class becuase of lack of interests and they tore up the track so bad for the rubber tire classes. But I still like farten around the farm on that H on steel. I would say you couldn't go wrong with the $1000 dollar offer.

Pitfalls of Tractor Engine Rebuilds - by Chris Pratt. The first pop after you have put the machine together with your own hands is exciting and pleasing. The whole experience can be marred if one moves too fast and makes too many assumptions that they can just use "as is" some parts they should be closely scrutinizing and possibly attended to. In such cases, rework makes what could have been a fun project turn into an irritant or even a nightmare. Minor Irritants To give you an example of an minor but irritating proble
