My grandfather has a 1928 Farmall Regular. Sometimes when I am trying to start it i will have the choke out and since I am not a hand cranking expert, it takes me a few tries to get it to work. I have found that during all that time, the engine sort of gets flooded. When this happens, I turn the gas off and start cranking again. When the engine sounds like it is starting to turn over on its own, I quickly turn the gas on again before all the gas in the carb is used up. This helps me out but I don't know if we are having the exact same problem. Good Luck! Jeff
