Same engines, same transmission. The major changes were in the drive train from engine to the trans. The 154 came with the Gen/starter like on the cadets. First big improvement package was a change over to a starter to flywheel combo. Which included new flywheel and starter with needed parts. The later 154's had this. 185'S were about the same. The 184's had electric PTO clutch and master clutch on back of flyweel a much needed improvement
