I'm no mechanic or expert, and have no experience on your particular engine, however lots on several other diesels. Whenever they're run dry, or in your case have the fuel taken out they need to be bled to I guess "prime" the pump. We usually do it by just loosening the fuel lines to each injector, but loosen them right at the pump, then turn the tractor over and as each line starts to squirt fuel out you tighten it back up as you're turning it over. Not sure if this is the best way or not but it works for us when we need it. Hope it helps
