radiator shutters

I just purchased a 1950 Super A, and this is the first tractor out of 6 Farmalls-(2) A,s, (2) Super A,s, (1) Farmall 100 and a Super C that I have owned that had the shutter control still on the tractor. My question is: Were the shutters only produced on tractors that were to be sold in the colder climates. I live in Mississippi and this is the first one I have seen. Or; were the shutters and controls possibly removed over the years? Thanks for any info.
