I know a lot of blocks have been trashed for cracks that would have been ok. I purchasec a C and was told the block was cracked. It came with an extra block. The head had been removed then reinstalled loosley. When I removed the head the block was cracked most way along one side on the top where the head gasket lays. Evidently it had frozen and pushed the side outward. The cracks were just on the top surface between the water jacket openings. The cracks couldnt let water leak anywhere. I put the head back on with new gasket and hahe run it for 4 years no problems. I wish I had a picture but didn't take one. I wouldn't Hesitate to do another one the same way again if it were cracked the same way. I feel a lot of these probably crack like this and get junked. REM
