Good idea... I run oil analysis on My PowerStroke diesel in My Pickup about every 10,000-12,000 miles. You need the number of hours/miles on the engine, same info on the oil being analyzed, brand & weight of oil and brand & size/model of engine. Test kits include a plastic jar and a lable to mail the sample too... takes maybe a half pint to pint of oil... and let the oil run for a while before You get the sample...Don't take the sample from the first drained oil or the last few drips.... and keep everything squeeky clean! They're testing for single digit parts per million and billion! A spec of rust or dust kills the test! And a couple days after You mail the sample You get the results back. Results will show metals and their amounts, fuel dilution, antifreeze dilution, soot... and a comments section about what is good or bad. ANY heavy duty truck service dealer, or construction equip. dealer should have them... $10-$12 typically.... I'm having FABCO in Green Bay WI., the local CAT dealer do mine. A search on BLACKSTONE LABS should get You another good place to have tests done. I've bought kits from FS Farm co-ops before too.

Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
