IH Plow Parts and Adaptability

Due to the wear parts getting more difficult to find by the day for the old little genius style plows, has anyone ever thought about trying the newer style moldboards, shares and shins that are available at TSC and other farm stores?? I thought of this the other day and wondered if this might solve a ton of problems and be a much more cost effective solution to expensive custom made parts. I know the purists will holler, but the field guys might benefit. I am sure I am not the first to think of this. Farmers are some of the world’s best engineers. They just don't always have the best tools or time to get the job done cleanly. That’s why they made number 9 wire right???
