If the engine is fairly clean inside, I'd recommend any high quality SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil. Even a multi-viscosity oil of today is far superior to the straight weight oils of the 50's - oils originally recommended by IH. Rumor has it that if the engine is sludged and you switch to detergent oil, you might get some oil leakage after the oil cleans out the sludge. If you want my honest opinion - and your mileage may vary - I'd use detergent oil anyway. If any leaks develop, I'd do a seal replacement when the season slows down. That's my kind of winter project. Read up on oils in the "Articles" section. They seem to feel the same way I do - use the best oils available.
