Saw a pretty decent 756 Diesel at a dealer today -looks like a 1969 model from the serial number. Did all the 756 diesels use the German engine or were there other diesel engines used? The casting on the left side of the block was 3 055004 R2 with the IH emblem cast close by. Looked like it had a ether or priming device with an aerosol can on the right side. Haven't heard it run yet. A little checking of archives indicates some troubles with availability of the canister style thermostat, which this one has and some troubles with parts availability with the hyd. governer on the older fuel pumps. Are there upgrades for changing to a standard thermostat? Retrofit inj. pumps available? Anything in particular to look for with the 756's? Thanks in advance!
