It sounds like you aren't getting enough gas. even with a clear line, you may not be able to see it. You can replace the carb drain plug with a barb and stick a piece of clear flexible tubing on it. Tape the tube up along the side of the carb and it will fill with gas to the level in the float bowl. Mark is on the side of the carb. When it starts acting up you can see if you actually have enough gas in the carb.
