I think the engine serial number should be stamped on a milled flat surface above/behind the coil/mag/distributer, front right side of the block, just below the head. May need some wire brushing. Look and see. However, the engine serial and the chassis serial will likely be different, and the casting dates will only be generally close to one another. Sorry, can't help with the question about reboring; others may be able to go with that one.
