560D had a lot of head gasket problems, some heads would crack also, 2 styles of heads, early had numbers 278 beginning and smaller valves, later were 323 with bigger valves, this was used on all until end of production, including D301 which was a D282 with out sleeves. One of the cures for head gaskets was to remove 2 top threads in block, this caused distortion of top deck, later blocks were made this way, IH advised to remove threads on early blocks. Also head bolts were prone to stretch.
