The hydraulic screen is in the reservoir, and kind of hard to get to compared to some. Drain the hydraulic fluid, remove the seat, unbolt the hydraulic control valves from the reservoir, then remove the bolts holding the reservoir cover to the transmission, I think it's 12 bolts or so. The reservoir cover is fairly heavy, about 60-80 lb, and awkward to lift, so use a hoist and lift straight up, carefully, as the screen hangs below the bottom of the cover a couple inches. Do not set the cover down and expect the screen to handle the weight, it won't. If you want to add a filter, it would have to go in the return line, which isn't really very accessible on the 300U, since it is a part of the cover casting. If you put a filter in the suction side of the pump line, it would probably restrict the flow too much.
