The clutch job is very straightforward, should only take a weekend, and can be done plenty easy with only one man. When I do it, I block under the clutch housing for the back half, and just hoist the front half out of the way. My personal favorite hoisting weapon is a manure loader, you can hook one chain to the front of the bucket, and another to the back, so that you can use the tilt of the bucket to level whatever you have hooked on, in addition to being able to raise and lower the object. But for you, it sounds like a cheap engine hoist may fit the bill. Oh, and a word of caution: the front half is hard to keep upright. The wheels like to turn outwards, and make things want to fall all over the place. And the design of the axle makes it hard to block right, because there is a good deal of weight ahead of the axle as well as behind. I actually dropped the engine half on it's nose once (didn't hurt anything, just scared the "carp" out of me).
