It will take awhile for the rings to seat and that depends alot on your 'break in'. The puff of smoke on startup and acceleration is normal however. There are several old threads for ideas on breaking in your new engine. You definitely will want to change the oil several times and check your valve lash and head bolt torque. The startup smoke will diminish with time.
