Originally IH put zerks in axle outer cap to lube outer axle bearings, then a running change was made to just plug hole, then they didnt even make the hole, sounds like your 1066 had a replacement cap put in or something done to rear axle on that side. There is a lot of interchangeable axles from 706 on.
