Bob, treat it like a big jigsaw puzzle. Lay out the broken pieces and everything that you have fished out. This should give you a good estimate of how much if any debris is left. I would not split the tractor for this as there will be some room in the bottom for small tiny pieces of debris. A good strong magnet should get most of it out. Remember the bell housing is fairly open and if you remove the plate on the bottom, or in your case the belly pump you should have access to it all..but I have a hunch that any pieces left will fall out on their own..I would fish out all I could , fix the starter and run it to see if all is clear...good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
