The siphon thing can be made to work if you don't have much blasting to do. Have someone hold the pick up tube almost flat across the surface of the sand. It will pick up much better that way than just sticking it down in a bucket of sand. It needs to pick up more air than what it can pick up from down in the bucket. My wife held the pick-up while I blasted. It went much faster that way. I have managed to get by with mine, but would like a blast cabinet. My 6-1/2 HP (or at least that's what it say's it is, yeah right!) compressor just won't put out the CFM's you need to really do blasting.
