Just to be sure we're clear; there isn't a gasket between the clutch - liftall housing and the transmission housing, and there's not supposed to be any oil in there to leak around the joint of the two housings or around the cover over the part of the opening behind the liftall unit. My H was leaking that same spot when I got it, I thought the same thing: gasket. What it really is is that the oil seals on the two tranmission shafts are leaking into that area and then it oozes out where ever it can. Like The Red says it isn't all that hard to replace them both, but I would highly recommend getting at least the IH Blue Ribbon Service Manual and maybe the I&T Manual, too. You can probably get them both for under sixty bucks and they'll be worth many times that. And, of course, keep coming here to ask. You can find out all sorts of usefull stuff, like how to get the Liftall out of the way:
