I reacenly put new ignition parts, plugs, wires, coil, cond, points ect and rebuilt the carb on project Sup H. She ran ok but something was not right. It was burnig way to rich and plugs were suitty. I thought it was a carb problem so I removed it adjusted and all that good stuff to no avail. I was at wits end then I talked with an old boy thats into Sup H's and Sup Mta"s. He told me to check ignition and to check the # on the dist shaft.I went home and pulled the dist. cap and the contacts were allready oxidized (new cap). I tore appart the dist and found that I had the wrong sized dist shaft!! I had a 30 and and it supposed to have a 22. He said this was a very common problem with the wrong sized shaft installed during a rebuild. I installed the correct shaft and timed her, BAM!! that did it! I hope my expriance helps someone else out there.
