Kelly, Red's got the right info on dropping the pump. I will echo what he's saying about the weight and how easy it is for the thing to tip. I strongly recommend that you not do that pump removal when you're the only one home! Don't know what kind of lifting device you have built, but if it proves un-satisfactory, you can lower it with a couple of pieces of all-thread rod in diagonally-opposite corners of the pump. I've got a jack that was built by the head mechanic of our local IH dealership about 50 years ago for this purpose. It's made from the jack that came with a mower similar to yours, and has a rod projecting from the ratchet mechanism that fits the hole through the lower part of the pump. There is a piece of keystock welded to the rod which keeps the liftall unit from tipping when it's on the jack. The base of the jack is made of angle iron that projects under the tractor for stabilty. Enjoy the experience!
