What size mower do you have? Is it possible you have more mower than tractor? Cub is good for a 4 or 5 foot mower at most. The extra weight is defiantly something to consider. The tractor does have to haul it too. Try mowing without water and see if it makes any difference and add back only what it takes to overcome traction problems if any. Also make sure your blades are sharp and your mower is level. If it tilts upward any the blades make multiple cut on the same grass as it moves forward, chopping it down little by little instead of all at once.
