Most new deep-cycle batteries come with a CCA amp rating and can be used for starting service. They are built heavier than starting-only batteries and last longer. I use them religiously, and the guys at Sears and Batteries Plus get ticked at me when I go in there and tell them I want a #27 marine deep-cycle battery. "What's it going in?" they ask. "Doesn't matter, I want a #27 marine deep-cycle battery!" I say. They don't like that!
