A farmer friend of mine was woke from a nap by his IH 560 running in circles in his front yard. Luckly, the tractor never hit anything or caused injury. Accordingly the wiring had shorted out in the starting system. Another friend has a IH 504. Sometimes the thing would not shut off with the key after it had been ran. On occausion it would power up the ignition by itself and run the battery down. Once it blew the ignition coil into bits. The coil heated up and the oil expanded. Happened to be nearby .... sounded like a bomb ..... no coil! Interesting discussion.
