I purchased a farm back in early 70s with a 656 and 504 and a IH 2000 which is quite a heavy loader. Vendor told me that when he bought the tractors and loader in 67, he had dealer mount loader on 656. As time went on he wanted 656 free for other work and thus took 6 inches out of loader frame, near where it bolts to axle housing, and mounted on 504.( 504 being 4 cylinder and shorter wheelbase than 656.) He had been running it on 504 for 5 years and tractor was in good shape front end, etc. This loader had larger than normal dirt and manure buckets. Like you I thought 504 front looked plenty light for loader. This gentleman was noted for working his tractors hard and also took good care of them. Yes I think this will work fine, it will require care but all tractor mounted loaders are that way. Afterall a farm tractor is not the best engineered vehicle in world for a loader. We make them work. A good counter weight you can pick up quick on 3 point hitch will help save front end a lot.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
