The short answer is yes, it is too big. Long answer: I have a Super A with a 5 foot belly mount Woods. Thick grass or medium sized weeds will pull it down. I know what mesquite is--it is HARD wood. I think you will have problems, even in 1st gear, but I have had no personal experience. I have the same question as geneb. Are you set up with remote hydraulics? If you have a 3 point mounted that will cut mesquite, you Super A won't be able to lift it.
