I am looking at restoring my neighbor's 450 for him for my winter project. It is currently sitting in a tobbaco shed, COVERED in spider webs. I was looking at it, and went and asked him about it. He told me the rear end that is in his machine shed is the original rear end (I forgot why it needed to be replaced) and that explained the "D" on the serial number although it is a gas tractor. He told me confidently it was a 450, and it had the white trimmings, but it had the 264 engine. I thought 450's had the 281??? It confused me, and I wasn't in the mood to push around spiders the size of quarters to look at the cast date letters on the block. I do know that the belt pully had "B" on it, showing it is 1956 in that part. I will retrieve more information later when I tow it into my shed, but right now, it is a mystery. Thanks for reading.
