If I understand what your post says, The rocker arms contat with the valve stem is angled some what to the front or back of the engine? This surface is usually parrallel to the valve stem, if it was angled then I'd think it would put slight side ways pressure on the valve stem that could accelerate valeguide wear. I think some one must have tried to resurface the rocker arms. I'd take them to a auto machine shop who can resurface them properly. Of course I could be totally wrong, but I'm not wrong often, HA!
